A Message from Rosa Isela Gluyas

Mr. Alberto Baillères always possessed a profound love for Mexico and a conviction that education is the best way of bringing our children and young people closer to better conditions of development and well-being. This was what gave rise to the Foundation that now bears his name.

Taking up the motto of the Alberto Baillères Foundation, “Transforming as a community,” our liaison work with education communities has allowed us to recognize our role as an agent that facilitates a process of dialogue and reflective action which in turn creates networks of collaboration to activate forces and establish agreements aimed at developing educational habitats as spaces of well-being for the entire community. 

This contribution translates into the construction of a framework of partnerships, based on shared visions, to contribute to the full exercise of the right to education within Mexico’s most vulnerable communities. Moreover, we propose achieving individual, collective, and social transformations that are meaningful, democratic, and transferable to other educational environments.

I want to express my gratitude to education communities: thank you for your trust in us; thank you for opening your doors to us; thank you for dreaming of a safe and dignified space that provides well-being and human development for all. And thank you for displaying your unity, beyond ideological diversity and diversity of opinions, in always centering the generation of children and young people who will have the opportunity to write a different history for the development of their lives, their families, their community, and our country.
