With the definition of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the inclusion of targets aimed at surmounting the deep disparities that have kept millions of people from accessing the universal right to education, UNESCO promotes recognizing education as a common good. In other words, education belongs to everyone and thus commits every social actor to action in solidarity for the benefit of individuals and humanity as a whole.
It is within this framework that the UNESCO Office in Mexico and the Alberto Baillères Foundation have reached a productive collaboration through the Social Model. The Alberto Baillères Foundation Social Model offers an innovative experience by promoting a decent and quality school infrastructure suitable for student needs, as well as the development of education communities capable of working in a collaborative and collective manner with a shared vision of the future. Together, these two components are part of the proposal for a 21st century educational habitat that represents a significant contribution to UNESCO’s objectives.
