February 2025

Grupo BAL companies continue to join forces to strengthen education communities

  • Volunteers from GNP Seguros visited Kanasín and Iztapalapa to present the “Luli y Gabo” prevention program,
  • El Palacio de Hierro made donations in several locations.

The companies that make up Grupo BAL are part of the Alberto Baillères Foundation’s network of strategic partners for promoting the collaborative creation of educational habitats. For this reason, the first months of the 2024-2025 school year saw the launch of various initiatives aimed at helping to build the capabilities of members of the education communities the Foundation accompanies.

The “Transforming as a Community” leadership program

Volunteers from GNP Seguros, SECOBAL, and VALMEX offer monthly mentoring sessions to students at Preparatoria 94 [Upper Secondary School] in Ecatepec enrolled in the “Transforming as a Community” leadership program. With these mentors’ guidance, young people are able to strengthen their leadership capabilities.

To foster a sense of community between mentors and students, a get-together was held at the facilities of GNP Seguros. This activity reinforced bonds of trust as well as teamwork skills.

Over the following months, students will develop transformational projects aimed at making a positive impact in their community and on their surroundings. These projects include recycling, reproductive health, and therapy with hummingbirds and plants.

Prevention workshops with Kanasín and Iztapalapa children

In the context of end-of-year celebrations, GNP Seguros’ volunteer team visited four primary schools in Kanasín, Yucatan. There, they distributed educational materials from the “Luli y Gabo” prevention program, spent time with students, and discussed the importance of at-home accident prevention.

In early January, another group of volunteers from GNP Seguros visited Primaria “General Herminio Chavarría” [Primary School] and Jardín de Niños “Fray Martín de Valencia” [Pre-primary School] in Iztapalapa, Mexico City. As part of Three Kings’ Day celebrations, several recreational activities were organized, likewise using materials from the “Luli y Gabo” program, to promote caring for pets.

Donations by El Palacio de Hierro

El Palacio de Hierro lent its efforts toward the creation of environments of well-being and conductive to learning, donating games and musical instruments to students at Preparatoria 110 [Upper Secondary School] in Ecatepec.

Furthermore, the company donated materials for launching the vocational degree in Tourism and Hospitality imparted at the Comunidad Educativa Baillères in Kanasín. These were presented at a ceremony that included representatives from the company, the Foundation, and the Secretariat of Education of the Government of the State of Yucatan (SEGEY).

Thanks to El Palacio de Hierro’s support, didactic play materials were also donated to four Kanasín primary schools that work alongside the Foundation. Likewise, books were donated in the context of the Foundation’s partnership with IBBY México. At the handover ceremonies, senior staff, educators, families, and students strengthened their commitment to working together to transform education communities.
