Alberto Baillères Foundation

April 2026

Spaces that promote children’s development at the “Ludoteca Científica Canica” in Xoco

  • The Alberto Baillères Foundation, in partnership with education authorities, handed over rehabilitated facilities set to benefit thousands of children,
  • Close collaboration planned with ”Ludoteca Científica Canica” staff to create an educational habitat conductive to learning.

The Alberto Baillères Foundation and the Federal Education Authority in Mexico City (AEFCM) celebrated the handover of the rehabilitated education infrastructure of the “Ludoteca Científica Canica” [Science Playgroup Center] on April 15, a project that will benefit the 5,000 children who visit the space annually to learn through play and creativity.

Improvements include work on the building’s facade; remodeling of the entrance and the addition of a ramp for people with disabilities; renovation of restroom clusters, classrooms, and administrative areas; work on the courtyard and plaza; furnishing of the auditorium; waterproofing; and construction of a storage facility. In addition, suitable furniture was installed throughout the facilities.

Notably, the Foundation worked closely with the Ludoteca staff to care for these spaces and keep them in optimal conditions, as well as to strengthen community ties to achieve the collaborative creation of a sustainable educational habitat. This project joins the Foundation’s work with two other Xoco education communities: the Primaria “Profr. Ponciano Rodríguez” [Primary School] and the Secundaria “Héroes Navales Mexicanos” [Secondary School].

In attendance at the inauguration event were Alejandro Díaz de León, Alberto Baillères Foundation Board Member; Juan Argüello, Real Estate Director of Grupo BAL; Rosy Gluyas, Director General of the Alberto Baillères Foundation; Luciano Concheiro Bórquez, head of the AEFCM; Leticia Landeros Aguirre, UNESCO Mexico consultant; and Maridelia Saucedo, Director of Well-being, Inclusion, and Social Responsibility at El Palacio de Hierro, as well as the principal and educators of the Ludoteca Científica Canica.
