Alberto Baillères Foundation

April 2026

Joining forces at the “República Popular China” Secondary School in Iztapalapa with signing of Social Commitment Agreement

  • Members of education communities from both school shifts will strengthen their bonds in order to participate in improvement of their spaces.
  • Representatives from education authorities, the Alberto Baillères Foundation, and Profuturo were in attendance.

On April 22, education authorities, senior, support and administrative staff, educators, students, and family members of the morning and afternoon shifts at Secundaria 118, “República Popular China” [Secondary School] expressed their readiness to collaborate on improving school facilities, as well as fostering bonds of trust and a sense of community. With the signing of the Social Commitment Agreement, the Foundation will support the renovation of infrastructure at this school, located in San Lorenzo Tezonco, Iztapalapa, in Mexico City, and will assist the education communities in cleaning and restoring certain areas.

The Foundation has worked with Secundaria 118 since 2024. As part of the strategies implemented here, a series of reflection and dialogue sessions have been held with members of education communities from both of the school’s shifts in order to identify needs and hopes in terms of their environment and to produce commitment to transforming that environment. It should be noted that, in the first trimester of 2026, a volunteer team from Profuturo ran three sessions on this topic with students.

This Foundation project is projected to benefit more than 1,000 members of these education communities, who affirmed their commitment to develop their capabilities for caring for, maintaining, and taking ownership of their surroundings. Likewise, the efforts of Profuturo will be key in the collaborative creation of environments of learning and well-being, and volunteers from this institution will continue to participate in the activities agreed upon between the Foundation and the education communities.
